This depends on the type of veneer being used as the process of applying porcelain and composite veneers is quite different.
What is the difference between porcelain and composite veneers?
Porcelain veneers must be made in a lab off-site before being applied in the practice, and can require more of the natural tooth’s surface to be removed for application. Composite veneers can be made and applied right here at the practice all during the same appointment, and normally do not require any of the natural tooth to be shaved down.
Composite veneers can also offer a more cost-effective alternative to porcelain veneers and are much easier and cheaper to repair should they become chipped, cracked or damaged in some way.

Whitening changes the colour of natural teeth but not existing veneers. If you are considering both treatments, discuss the sequence with your dentist so the shades can be planned together.
