At Diamond Dental Care, we want to help our patients feel as happy with their smiles as possible. We know that living with stained, discoloured teeth can be difficult and cause many people to feel self-conscious about their smile, even leading them to smile less. Here, we want to give our patients reasons to smile more, which is why we offer home-based teeth whitening treatments which our patients can use from the comfort of their own homes, in their own time.
First, you’ll come into the practice to have scans of your mouth taken. These will be used to make your own bespoke teeth whitening trays which are like thin moulds that sit over your teeth, holding the whitening gel and protecting your gums. Your trays will be made off-site, and you’ll come back into the practice to pick them up and wear them at home.
How often do I have to wear the trays and gel?
You should wear your trays and gel every day or every night depending on the gel formula you choose. They should be worn for a few hours a day.
For successful results, you should wear your trays daily or nightly for two weeks, at which point your teeth will be looking whiter and brighter!
No, the trays are designed to sit comfortably over your teeth and shouldn’t aggravate the gums. The whitening gels can cause some sensitivity in patients, but there is a variety of different formulas we can choose from – those with lower levels of bleach will be more comfortable for sensitive patients.
This depends on the type of treatment chosen and the individual patient. Most patients using home-based teeth whitening treatments notice the difference for up to 3-6 months afterwards. It is very easy to ‘top up the treatment too, should your new brighter smile need a little more help in the future.
